Artist Statement
Life is continuously moving and changing but I’ve found that no matter how much time goes by and how much is going on in our lives, there are certain moments that remain still. These moments are often evoked by something as simple as a scent, shape, sound, or color. And while these remembered moments might be small or mundane, so much so that it seems impossible we even recall them, I believe this is what makes them so special. They are a part of you because they are still, even when everything else around you is not.

Short Bio
My name is Katie Murray and I am a BFA candidate in photography and graphic design at East Carolina University. I am from Boston, Massachusetts. Photography and graphic design are both ways in which I learn, observe, understand, and form ideas about the world. My work is about what excites me, what interests me, what scares me, what impacts me, what I appreciate, and what I’m curious about. I love what I get to study and learn every day. As I continue growing as an artist and a designer, I hope to create something meaningful that others can reflect upon and connect with.
