This photo was inspired by the real life and beautiful struggle artists have in the world.  Walking to the library had been a daily routine of me this past summer and one day while walking I heard the most pleasant sounds of instruments creating a lyrical tune.  As I turned the corner towards the entrance of the library, I noticed a homeless man playing a fine tune, but I also noticed everyone just walking pass like he wasn’t even there. I walked over to chat with him and noticed the uniqueness of his instruments; I also noticed the wear and tear as well, which in my opinion told the story of his life. He was a very humbled man  I told him I was an art major at my college. He told me  that no matter the situation you’re in you  should always continue to do what you love. He also told me to always go with my heart and never lose my passion. I was truly inspired by his life and story and felt like many people in his position go unnoticed for the craft and talent they have. So I thought that positioning his equipment in a way that told his story would be great for a still life picture. With this image I hope people can envision the art and love of music and that it creates something that would paint a powerful image in people’s mind of the struggle most artist go through.
Short BioMy name is Isaiah Johnson; I am a 22-year-old artist currently attending Saint Augustine’s University.  I’m working towards receiving my Bachelors Degree in Art with a Minor in English. I love photography, poetry, fashion and art.  I use them as vessels for self-expression.  My ultimate dream is to design affordable menswear clothing, become a stylist, publish a book of poetry, grow as a photographer and create a center for children to express themselves through the many forms of art.
